Camping Sites   

Garland Scout Ranch- Located about 15 minutes south of Shreveport on Hwy. 171

Kisatchie National Forrest- Located below Natchitoches La., offers a variety of hiking and back packing trails as well as opportunities to camp on the water and ample places to work on several merit badges.

Shady Lake, Arkansas (located above Derks Ark.)- Offers troops the opportunity to camp in the foothills of the Ouachita  Mountains. There are plenty of trails for hiking and backpacking as well as great places to swim.

Derks Lake, Arkansas - Derks lake is located just outside of Derks Arkansas. Several Army Corps of Engineers sites are available for camping around the lake. This link will provide more information http://www.swl.usace.army.mil/parks/dierks/index.htm

Cossatot, Arkansas- Offers troops the opportunity to be on the water as well as hike and camp in the foothills in Arkansas.

U.S.S. Kid- Located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana allows troops to spend the night on a naval ship. Troops need to call ahead for reservations and cost.

Rocky Springs Campground, Natchez Trace Park, South of Vicksburg- The cost is free for camping in this campground.

Martin State Park, Tatum, Texas- You can visit the Caldwell Zoo in Tyler Texas, free of charge, or for $2.00 per person you can go to Texas Fresh Water Fisheries south of Tyler Texas.

Caney Lake Park, Minden, LA.- The cost is $5.00 per person.

Cloud Crossing, located in the Winn District of Kisatchie National Park on Saline Bayou- Troops can fish for catfish or visit Caroline Dorman Park, which offer several hiking trails. Contact Park Ranger Johnson. 

Lake of the Pines State Park, northwest of Marshall Texas, contact through the Army Corps of Engineers.
